Protecting your privacy and your personal data is a priority for Paradise Villas. In this policy we explain who we are, the purposes for which we use your data, how we process it, who we may share it with, how long we keep it and how you can contact us to exercise your rights.

WHO ARE WE?

Your personal data will be processed by Powerfuleader Lda, with registered office at Rua da Esteva, Lote 14, 8200-252 Albufeira, which is legally responsible for operating the Paradise Villas brand.

Paradise Villas acts as an intermediary agent, promoting short-term accommodation on behalf of the owners of the properties advertised on our website.

We are the controller of your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

WHY DO WE PROCESS YOUR DATA?

Your personal data may be collected and processed for the following purposes:

  • Compliance with applicable legal obligations, such as mandatory reporting to the Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) and tax obligations;
  • Management and performance of the temporary accommodation contract, including booking management, invoicing, check-in and check-out control, collection of deposits, and the provision of services complementary to the stay (such as cleaning, transfers, breakfast or groceries);
  • Communication with customers by email, telephone or digital platforms, for contractual, commercial and informational purposes, including marketing and promotions, where applicable;
  • Protection of people and property under the responsibility of Paradise Villas and statistical analysis of our activity.

Failure to provide personal data required for legal or contractual purposes may make it impossible to enter into or perform the accommodation contract, and Paradise Villas cannot be held responsible for this.

WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?

In the course of our activity, we collect and process the personal data needed to provide our services and to comply with legal obligations. This includes, in particular:

  • Identification data (name, nationality, identity document);
  • Contact data (email, telephone, address);
  • Payment data (bank account number, card details or other means of payment).

LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR DATA

The processing of your personal data is based on:

  • The performance of the accommodation contract and compliance with applicable legal obligations (Article 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR);
  • Your consent, in the case of marketing communications (Article 6(1)(a));
  • The legitimate interest of Paradise Villas, in the case of the protection of people and property and the analysis of the company’s activity (Article 6(1)(f)).

HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR DATA?

We keep your personal data only for as long as strictly necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or for as long as required by legal or regulatory obligations.

WHO DO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH?

We may share your personal data with:

  • Public bodies, such as SEF and the Tax Authority, in compliance with legal obligations;
  • Partners and suppliers that provide services on our behalf, under contract, such as web hosting providers, cleaning services, accountants, lawyers, insurers or marketing companies;
  • Judicial or regulatory authorities, when legally required.

Whenever we share your data with third parties, we ensure that they comply with confidentiality and data protection obligations equivalent to our own.

IS MY DATA TRANSFERRED OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN UNION?

As a general rule, your data is not transferred outside the European Union.

If such a transfer is necessary (for example, for storage on cloud servers outside the EU), we ensure that appropriate measures are taken to protect your data, in accordance with the GDPR, including standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS?

Under the GDPR, you may exercise the following rights:

  • Access, rectification or erasure of your personal data;
  • Restriction of or objection to processing;
  • Portability of your data to another entity;
  • Withdrawal of consent, where applicable, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before that date.

If you consider it necessary, you may also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD) (www.cnpd.pt).

SECURITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, accidental loss or improper destruction. However, the transmission of information over the Internet is not completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted electronically.

Paradise Villas undertakes to keep your personal data confidential and not to sell it to third parties.
